“For within Her is a spirit

intelligent, holy, unique, diverse, clever,

active, incisive, pure, clear, invulnerable, benevolent, sharp,

irresistible, kind, loving, steadfast, dependable, serene,

powerful, astute, penetrating and most subtle;

 ... so pure She pervades and permeates all things.  

She is the breath of God, the reflection of God’s glory.”

There is a renewed interest in Sophia which comes, not surprisingly, at a time in our collective spiritual history when we are at war with ourselves, with one another and with the environment.  People everywhere are looking for a better way, a more peaceful way, a way of Wisdom.

 

Sophia, the Greek transliteration for the word Wisdom, present in both the Hebrew and Christian scriptures, is the personification of the divine feminine.  Sophia is the breath and spirit of God, in Hebrew Ruah.  Sophia is the Divine Mother, through Her all of creation is born and in Her all of creation is renewed.  Sophia is the feminine image of God, not separate from, a unified Divine essence with the eternal Holy Source.
